This site is home to the Alfred John Bateman and Clara May Hess family.

Alfred’s family immigrated to America from South Ockendon, just east of London, in 1872, one year prior to his birth. In that immigration were his father, George, and a good number of uncles, aunts and cousins.

Clara’s grandfather was the noted German immigrant, John Hess, a prominent settler of Farmington and Davis County.

This is the story of Alfred John and Clara May Hess and their descendants. On this site you will find histories, pedigree charts, maps, pictures and family announcements. We encourage you to contribute.

And no, research in both families has so far failed to affirm any relation to Merrill J. Bateman.
