1916 | John purchases a new black Model T Ford and proudly drove it home, but almost knocks down the buggy shed. |
1917, 2 August | Alfred joins the 145th FA Utah National Guard and serves in Bordeaux, France (mustered out of the Army, 28 January 1919). |
24 August | Othel is born in Paris, Idaho. |
1918, 12 September | George M. registers in the first universal draft for World War I. |
15 October | George is a private, but because of college and previous military training, he is assigned to the Student Army Training Corps unit located on the Utah State Campus. Influenza soon struck the camp and George M. is one of the first down with a high fever. |
1919, 18 April | Rao Henry is born in Paris, Idaho. |
1920 | John and Clara purchase a home on First South in Logan near the old Brigham Young College (now Logan High School) and moves several of the family cows and the furniture from Paris, Idaho. Late in July, John sells the Logan property and moves back to Paris. |
1922, 24 May | George Monroe Bateman marries Florence Harris. |
1923, 14 March | Alfred Hess Bateman marries Idella Van Orden. John sells his sixteen acre farm and hay meadow to Arthur Hess and moves his family to Logan, Utah permanently. |
1925, 4 May | LeRoy Bateman marries Alice Hall in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage is later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. |

They live in Bloomington, Idaho the first seven years of their marriage, followed by twenty-three years in Paris, Idaho and 33 years in Logan, Utah as of 1955. They have eight living children, twenty-six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren at the time of their golden anniversary. |
1958, 11 March | Clara May Hess Bateman passes away at age 82 in Logan Utah of a stroke. She is buried in Wellsville, Utah on Saturday 15 March. |
1961, 7 March | Alfred John Bateman dies at age 86 in Provo, Utah of pneumonia. He is buried in Wellsville, Utah on 11 March. |
